There is honestly no benefit to it in my opinion. Personally, I have lived in places like that before, and I hope I never have to do it again.
I am all for being open-minded, but there are some places I just stay away from because I know the truth about what's happening there. Police in these cities usually don't really patrol and they don't operate like they do in other cities, you're on your own. Random acts of violence and crime are common.
